Overview of the OTTO QUAST group of companies

On April 20, 1945, the master builder Otto Quast laid the foundation for the building company. Today, more than 60 years later, the original company has expanded into several companies with more than 450 employees.

The activities of the company extend to the following sectors:

  • Structural and civil engineering
  • Road construction
  • Pile driving
  • Demolition
  • Pile foundations
  • Industrial construction
  • Turnkey construction

The projects realized by our company range from elevated drinking water tanks to technical structures on dams, river training projects, passages and bridges on interstates and other roadways, industrial and commercial structures, administration and public buildings, school buildings, churches, hotels, leisure and recreation centers, hospitals, nursery schools, sewage plants, highrises, parking garages  to residential buildings and business premises, supply and disposal lines as well as all types of road construction.

One specialized area of expertise has emerged over the years:  the construction of grandstands along race courses in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

For pile foundation projects all over Germany, concrete piles cast in-situ are used.

In 1966, production of concrete prefabricated elements started in Freudenberg-Lindenberg. From these humble beginnings, the sister company Fertigbau Lindenberg GmbH & Co. KG emerged, which today produces all common prefabricated reinforced und prestressed concrete elements  on  a 24,000 m2 site.

After accession of the German Democratic Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany on October 3, 1990 a new company, OTTO QUAST Bauunternehmen GmbH & Co. KG was established on February 20, 1991 and is based in Radeburg near Dresden. In the fall of 1992, another company, OTTO QUAST GmbH & Co. KG Fertigbau Sachsen joined the group after a manufacturer of prefabricated concrete elements in Coswig near Dresden was acquired from the privatization agency – Treuhandanstalt on September 1, 1992. In May of 2004, the OTTO QUAST Fertigbau Berlin GmbH with registered offices in Berlin was established and is since engaged in concrete construction projects in and around Berlin.

At OTTO QUAST, junior staff development is a major concern, since in this area, the course is set for the continuing success of the company. Each year, we train about 45 apprentices which makes OTTO QUAST a front-runner of all job training companies in the construction sector at the different company locations.

In 2000, the company shares were transferred to the third generation of the family and the Familien-AG (family-owned stock company) was established.
